Egypt is free of Virus C 2013 – 2015
Project Scope & Objective
Raising the awareness of the target groups about Virus C in terms of the nature of the disease, ways of transmission of the virus, how to prevent, and mobilize the community to take serious steps to stop or slow the rate of infection and spread of the virus.

Target Areas
• 60 villages in Upper Egypt inside the Governorates: Fayoum - Minya - Sohag – Qena
Project Achievements
• A specialized and simplified training manual on C virus that includes all information about the disease and methods of prevention
• A committee of 200 community leaders who will be responsible for supporting and following up on project work, implementing, and sustaining activities
• 240 young trainers from the villages’ local schools and youth centers were trained and qualified on the awareness manual to combat the virus
• 36,000 young people benefited from the awareness and training activities of the project
• 400 local Barbershops were announced as “friends of healthy liver”
• A media event in May 2015 to celebrate the success of the project and to honor the people of the villages, also to announce the community's rejection of the virus spread
• Integrated website and social network pages with all possible information and resources to raise the awareness of the community against the disease
